Kennedy Schofield Lawyers, a full- service law firm located in Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, chooses a charity each January and fundraises for the cause for that calendar year. For 2019, the chosen charity was St. Margaret’s Bay Association for Community Living, an organization that supports adults living with intellectual disabilities with life skills, such as exercise classes, cooking, crafts and games.
The law firm holds several fundraising events over the year including a paint party where a local artist guides the participants to create their own original painting. The firm sells used books in their reception area to raise funds, counts toonies for the Bay Treasure Chest and in the past has hosted a yard sale, BBQ and sold Christmas ornaments. One hundred percent of the proceeds are in support of the charity.
“In 2019, we raised just over $1700 for St. Margaret’s Bay Community Living. The organization will use this money to support the programs they have in place to improve the lives of residents in our community,” says Jennifer Schofield, a partner with the firm.
For the 2020, Kennedy Schofield Lawyers will be fundraising for Help 2 Overcome (H2O), a charity headed by Ben John, a local plumber. Help 2 Overcome is committed to providing water and sanitation to schools in Sierra Leone. Unsafe water, inadequate sanitation and lack of hygiene affects the health, safety, and quality of life of children.
